Thanks, Dennis, for reposting that link to the old gas stations. Whenever I pass one I always wonder about their history and think to myself "If those walls could only talk..." My wife's grandfather ran a Shell station in downtown Madisonville, Tennessee, in the '40's and '50's, and like our friends in Mayberry, he would walk to work and the grandkids would walk there to see him when visiting and by doing so would be treated to free cokes and candy. What great memories they have! We have a few pieces of memorabilia from the old station hanging in our garage and I always smile when I see them.
By the way, Floyd's drinks of choice were huckleberry smash and nectarine crush! Chris "Tracy Crawford" Armstrong in Chattanooga, where it is Chamber of Commerce weather outside. Too bad I can't find an old filling station selling bottles of huckleberry smash.
