Thanks, Dennis, for reposting that link to the old gas stations.
Whenever I pass one I always wonder about their history and think to
myself "If those walls could only talk..."  My wife's grandfather ran a
Shell station in downtown Madisonville, Tennessee, in the '40's and
'50's, and like our friends in Mayberry, he would walk to work and the
grandkids would walk there to see him when visiting and by doing so
would be treated to free cokes and candy.  What great memories they
have!  We have a few pieces of memorabilia from the old station hanging
in our garage and I always smile when I see them.

By the way, Floyd's drinks of choice were huckleberry smash and
nectarine crush!

Chris "Tracy Crawford" Armstrong in Chattanooga, where it is Chamber of
Commerce weather outside.  Too bad I can't find an old filling station
selling bottles of huckleberry smash.
