>>>My question is for the many trained noticers in our Digest. Does anyone >>>have any idea who provided the scrumptious meals that appear on the show?
Much of the food seen on the show was fake prop food, made up by propmaster Reggie Smith and his crew. Sometimes it took several hours to film a scene, and real food (especially stuff like ice cream) wouldn't look good for such a long time. Ron Howard once told a funny story about the time he tried to eat some of the food and of course it tasted awful. He was probably about six years old and the time, and he figured it was because Frances Bavier was a terrible cook! Bernard Fox (Malcolm Merriweather) once told me that in scenes which involved characters eating on screen, a representative from General Foods (the show's sponsor) was on the set to make sure that all of their products were presented in the best possible way. This would include foods such as Sanka coffee, Jell-O pudding, and Post cereal. Did you ever notice that nobody in Mayberry ever had a bad cup of coffee? --Paul Mulik _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
