Up here in the frozen north, salt rising bread is readily available at all our grocery stores. My brother lived near Pittsburgh and couldn't get it, so I guess it is a regional thing. When we heard it mentioned on TAGS, we were surprised. It reminds me of past posts where someone was told that iced tea was "out of season" when they were north of the Mason-Dixon line. It's not unusual here to have iced tea off the menu in the winter months. I certainly wouldn't drink it today. 12 degrees with bitter wind chills and 2 feet of snow on the ground and it's still snowing! Some salt rising toast and hot cocoa is a different story. Yum.
