I'm going to take a contrarian position here and argue, that as wonderful as every episode of TAGS is, I am glad there is only one Christmas-themed episode. Any other attempt probably would have suffered in comparison to The Christmas Story, which is among the best themed episodes of any TV show. Ben Weaver was probably the only "regular Mayberry character" who would have worked for a Christmas redemption episode. Will Wright was so perfect as Mr. Weaver in the few (three?) episodes he played the role. There were other capable, talented actors who played Ben Weaver, but in my humble opinion, they never came as close to capturing the grumpy old guy with a warm heart who blustered a lot but provided gifts at Christmas, a home and job for a destitute family and bought out a competitor's stock and employed him.
