RFD stands for "Rural Free Delivery". This is what rural mail service was
called, I believe it started about 1900. They had a spot about it on RFD TV
Network last year.They said most people believed it would bankrupt the
country then. Man, were they ever wrong. Before that, country folks had to
pick up their mail in town. They had an old film clip of a horse-drawn wagon
with a person in the back dropping the mail in the boxes as the horse walked
by. So much for right-hand drive cars. Have a good day, Warm and beautiful
