Subject: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

"I have been watching the show for 20 something years and I do not know
what the "RFD" stands for can anyone please tell me thanks."

Paul, RFD means "Rural Free Delivery". It was founded by Tom Watson in
Norwood, Georgia. He actually lived in Thomson, Georgia. Here is
information on him.

His name was John Forrest Watson. Senator Watson, while a U.S.
Representative, fathered the bill to form our Rural Free Delivery
System. The original R.F.D. was out of the post office in Norwood,
Georgia in Warren County, near here.

The Watson-Brown Foundation owns three main historic homes in Thomson,
Georgia: the Thomas E. Watson Birthplace
<http://www.watson-brown.org/homes/birthplace.html> , the Thomas E.
Watson House <http://www.watson-brown.org/homes/tw_house.html> , and
Hickory Hill <http://www.watson-brown.org/homes/hickory_hill.html> .
They are within walking distance of one another. Each is restored and
available for tours.

The homes contain a wealth of archival and curatorial artifacts. Watson'
birthplace, circa 1830, provides a humble, though charming, depiction of
antebellum life in the South.

His restored first home contains memorabilia of both Brown and Watson
families, including photographs, documents, publications, and personal
effects. A restored Rural Free Delivery (RFD) mail buggy is a testament
to the significant legislation Tom Watson secured while in Congress.
