Although it seems like I've been a member much longer the machine down at the bank, and it's a gooooooooooood machine, says that I've been on the list since 10-24-2002. It was interesting to look at my welcome e-mail again. Yup, I'm one of those complesion nuts who keeps an archive of e-mails and digests. Reading Allan's historical notes and messages makes me feel a whole lot better. I can't think of better company to be in.
I'm one of those infrequent posters but daily readers. I feel I know so many of you by your posts. I hesitate to name anyone because I know I can't cover you all, but I look forward to seeing if Ken has a new story, Albert has a new advertisement or Laura Lee Hobbs has more news from the dime store. I'm always interested in how Harriett and her chickens are doing, if the Untrained Voice has a new quiz or a Schwamp update, or if Paul has caught one of us in a mistake. It's nice when Maude sends word from the big house and no matter the trouble Neil Bentley is there in case I need his services. Each familiar name gives me the feeling of walking down Mayberry's streets, visiting with old friends and passing the time. Besides being in Mt. Airy for Mayberry Days it's the closest I've been to actually living there. We've shared so much on the digest in just the 4 years I've been here. We've laughed over favorite lines and episodes and wracked our brains over trivial trivialities. We've mourned losses from the TAGS family like Howard Morris, Jean Carson, and Don Knotts, and our own family like Jeff Krentz. Just like a real family we go through the ups and downs of life together. That's what makes you all so special to me. Thanksgiving is a very appropriate time to celebrate WBMUTBB's anniversary. I'm thankful for each of you, for the digest, for folks like Allan & Jan, Jim Clark, Jeff Koontz, the Bell's, Kenneth Junkin and so many others who work so hard creating opportunities for us to experience Mayberry. Because of them, and all of you, the spirit of Mayberry will live on for many years to come. And as I'm sure you'll agree, a special thanks to Andy Griffith (the original) for letting us all in on the wonderful world of Mayberry. Happy Anniversary and Happy Thanksgiving.
