It seem`s from talking to Andy, and later the editor over at the paper that
there was a small mistake in printing a couple of days ago, the police blotter
and court records banner was put half way through the Mayberry after midnite
column by mistake. Andy said the whole town has been asking him if what was
printed was true , he wants us all to know that none of it was factual and
nothing more than just idle gossip. Gomer did join the Marines, but only
because all men between 18 & 35 had to do there turn in the military, Andy said
the real reason was his daddy had told him that one day he would be tested and
that he would have to stand on his own. Gomer really does want to make his
daddy proud. Barney did not get in any trouble for the salve incident, it seems
that after Andy placed a phone call to the Miracle Salve Company that they were
only too happy to come and get the salve especially after Andy questioned their
sales tactics and hinted an anonymous call might be placed
to the Better Business Bureau. You gotta love that man!
As far as Neil Bentley goes,Andy suggested to him not to do anymore
business in Mayberry or he may have to have a lawyer himself. As for Otis it
was suggested to him that he might attend a few AA meetings but Barney believes
it wont be enough and is making plans to stage an intervention. Barney told me
that a wink is as good as a nod to a blind mule and that he wasn`t taking any
chances and was preparing to bring out the big guns to save his friend. So
everything is just as it should be in the sleepy little village of Mayberry and
I dont know about you but that makes me sleep good at night........
