We just wanted to take a moment and let the list know how wonderful the "Cruise to Mayberry" was this past week. Our own Allan "Floyd the Barber" Newsome along with Phil "Ernest T" Lee and the other tribute artists made the cruise a joy to attend. Thanks to Jeff Koontz for his part in the program with Maggie "Charlene Darling" Peterson-Mancuso. It was great to hear Maggie talk about her part in TAGS and give everyone some "behind the scenes" insight as to what went on in the episodes she appeared in. Speaking of Jeff Koontz..congratulations to him and his "beloveded" bride to be, Claire. Jeff proposed to Claire at dinner Thursday night and she said, "Yes." When she officially becomes Mrs. Koontz we may have to give her the Mayberry name of "Myra." Everyone remembers the episode "The Shoplifters" where Barney mentions Myra Koontz at the lingerie (pronounced lan-jer-ie) shop.
We also got to enjoy Leroy McNeese <sp?> and his musical talent on the guitar and Dobro. Leroy appeared in "Mayberry on Record" as a member of a local band and thanked Mr. Maxwell for allowing him and the others to purchase stock in Mr. Maxwell's record making venture. The weather was outstanding and except for a little rough water between Key West and Calica, it was a pretty smooth cruise. We believe a great time was had by all who attended. To those who were unable to attend this year, there are plans for a "Cruise to Mayberry 2007" and the dates are from Oct. 21-25 (we believe) so mark your calendars and try to come and join in the fun.
