Yesterday while watching a couple of old Gunsmoke re-runs, I spotted Rose playing a part of Rosie, a barmaid, and in the next episode the Man in a Hurry was the train conductor, and yes, he was still in a hurry! In both episodes, everything turned out all right because of Matt, Doc, and Festus! Come to think of it, Mayberry and Gunsmoke were pretty much based on the same theme: Unmarried lawman, deputy, a few other major players and lots of minor players. One lawman armed, the other unarmed. Both gave us the distinct impression.....Crime Does Not Pay!!! Doc: Festus, you should invest that money. Festus: In what? D: Well, you could buy yourself a lot. F: A lot of what? D: A lot of land. F: But I don't need a lot of land. D: Well, you could buy a little lot. F: Doc, there ain't no such thing as a little lot. You can buy a little or you can buy a lot, but you can't buy no little lot! D: I'm exhausted! I think I'll go lie down! F: You go lie down, Doc, whilst I go over to the Longbranch and buy myself a lot of little drinks!
