A lot of early TV shows and even movies would removed windshields from the cars due to reflections and glare of the glass when filming. They also liked to remove the rear view mirrors a lot from cars when filming. The Danny Thomas thing was the most obvious one I think I have ever seen tho. Maybe it had something to do with the model of the car and the windshield design. It sure stuck out like a sore thumb.
