There was an actor named Carl Benson who appeared in a couple of TV shows in the late 50s, including "Have Gun, Will Travel." It's possible that writers Fritzell and Greenbaum were aware of this actor and named the bandleader after him, or they may have just made the name up out of thin air. It's also possible that the prop department already had a drum set with the name "Carl Benson's Wildcats" painted on the bass drum (maybe left over from some forgotten movie), so they just wrote the name into the show, rather than going to the expense of painting a new drum head. --Paul _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
