I had an idea for a great episode. Now I am no writer but I can get
ideas. My idea is this.

TAGS was in the early 60's right? So how about if some Yankee reporter
comes to town looking for the scoop on race relations. He goes firts to
the Mayberry Diner and to his surprise sees Floyd having lunch w/Moses
Conroy--father of footballer Flip. They're discussing the latest
hairstyles for men or maybe Moses is bragging some on his boy Flip or
Floyd on his boy Norman. Both being barbers they'd have lots to talk about.

Then at Weavers, Aunt Bee is in line behind this woman
http://www.bookguy.com/Mayberry/BlacksMayb/BarneyGetsHIsMan04.jpg seen
in Barney Gets his Man. The reporter sees Aunt Bee wait until the woman
is waited on before handing over her purchases to Bert Miller & the
woman talking quietly to Opie. "yes ma'am" says Opie to the woman,"Pa
says I'm growing out of my britches so fast I must have sandpaper
underwear." Aunt Bee embarrassed: "Opie!"

Reporter could find similar at Mrs.Lukens' Lingerie Shop, Franklyn's
Pharmacy, & the store where Opie bought Nylons for Miss Crump.

In other words, Mayberry is as we all knew, a town where everyone is
equal regardless of race, creed, or color. Wouldn't that make a great
storyline for some fan fiction?

The idea came to me when watching the episode where the gold truck is
coming thru town and I spotted a black man standing in the crowd waiting
to see the truck come thru. He's almost directly behind Gomer and is
partially hidden by Regis's sign until Gomer walks off.
