I have wondered why drive in movie theaters was never used in the show. It is a very Big part of Americana, the 50's and the south. The Brightleaf drive in is still in business in Mt Airy, NC. If you are planning on attending Mayberry Days in Mt Airy you can call the drive in there at 336.786.5494 and see what is playing at the time. Hay, Wouldn't it be great if they were playing TAGS. When I was growing up in Salisbury, NC had a drive in. Now the closest one is in Badin, NC near Uwharrie National Forest and Albemarle, NC. I hear drive ins are making a come back. Remember when you went to the drive in and you could not hear cause the sound was distorted and crakled and it was hard to see the screen cause the windows fogged up, and I can't even remember a single movie I went to go see.
