hiya ken the last time i walked home from school was in 1988.. and i didnt really walk home i walked to grandmas, (then we moved to a rural area and i had to ride the bus). and yeah those days were great.. another sad thing about kids not walking home from school is that they are loosing valuble excersize... as soon as i started riding the bus i began to gain wait.
and these days its just not safe for kids to walk home anymore, even in our small town, it has sex offenders just outside the line marked by the state to keep them from living near schools.. and many many kids still have to walk by his house, thank God for the county SOR web site... those kinds of things just werent necessary in mayberry, you know. you said "They are picked up at school by a relative or neighbor and many are taken to a day care provider where they will spend another two hours waiting for their parents to arrive" i always felt sorry for kids who had to go to daycare after school. When my husband and i decdied to start a family, we decided i would stop working and stay home... we came to the conclusion that why shoud we adopt just to send them to daycare if we dont have to... our marriage and household are tons better off with me not working, not to mention its a plus when caseworkers look at our homestudy. A glass of milk and a cookie will be an everyday part of our child's life when he/she gets home... along with TAGS (i hope anyway). _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
