I broke down and couldn't wait at bought our's at walmart (sorry mr weaver). We started watching them last night.. we are up to the senior play. I always thought howard replaced Floyd? guess i was wrong.
The first episode of the set kinda got my "inner feminist" in an uproar.. helen teaching cynthia that she should pretend to loose or not be as good at something made my blood boil, but that was the culture of the day i guess.. thank goodness we've come a long way since that way of thinking. At least Andy recognized it and said something in the very end. (there was a episode in season 6 that upset me to the one where Goobers girlfriend took over at the filling station and then Andy gave her some mumbo jumbo about how she cant have that kind of career and be a family woman, which is weird because helen is a career woman.. it was probalby because being a teacher or a nurse was socially acceptable back then). I love TAGs its just sometimes it makes me realize how dated it is.. in some (i'd even say most) ways the "old" way is better.. sometimes its not... dont get me wrong, i'm perfectly happy being a housewife, i'm more "aunt bea" than most women from my generation.
