Good response from several folks about the lack of tea being related to
General Foods (Sanka Coffee) being a sponsor. Probably also explains why
the Ladies' Aid Society never had an afternoon tea or why there was no Tea
Room next to Floyds. You know, that might have made a good episode -
similar storyline as The Manicurist. A place when men would not go. Andy
would feel bad about the fact that the men made fun of the whole thing and
that the lack of business was going to force it to close. He would finally
break the tradition and pop in for a cucumber sandwich and little Earl Gray
(I don't think he would like the flavored teas). Then he'd order Barney to
eat a scone with clotted cream. Before long, the mayor and everybody is
spending every afternoon in the Tea Room. The whole town grinds to a halt
at 2:00 every day.

(I'm on a roll now.) Imagine then some of the barbershop scenes taking
place in the Tea Room. (I'm going to Nashville!). Or Malcome Merriweather
getting a position as the chef and serving a full high tea. Or some of our
more dapper guests enjoying a spot of tea - such as Colonel Harvey, Thomas
A. Moody (count the silverware), Gentlemen Dan Caldwell. Shoot Andy might
even clean up Ernest T. and teach him the social "ammenanies" of a proper
English cream tea.
