I believe it might've been ice tea that Andy was bringing to Aunt Bee and Clara on the porch after the flower show. As a homemaker I always paid particular attention to the table settings and such. It occurred to me too that beverages and side dishes were missing. I would think Helen would've served a green salad with spaghetti. Seemed like there were lots of platters of huge baked sweet taters here and there too that didn't look as if they'd been properly cleaned of strings, etc.. And I would imagine that mashed taters would've been served with the pot roasts rather than baked potatoes without gravy. They probably did not have a true homemaker as advisor to the show back then. And you know good and well that Ange and Barn did not water bath those store-bought pickles in order to re-seal the jars. Aunt Bee would've noticed that right away! Oh well.
