The answer to your question lies in the episode itself. Barney states that it happened on Saturday, June 23, 1952. Since Andy and Barney graduated from high school in either 1945 or 1948 (depending on which class reunion episode you watch), that would make them in their early to mid-20's. It is interesting that Barney says it is a Saturday, because June 23, 1952 was actually a Monday. Perhaps he just got his syndromes mixed up.
