July 26, 1960 is a date that should be memorized by all true fans of TAGS.
Visually, that is when it all began for viewers. Sure, Sheldon Leonard, Danny
Thomas, and all of the writers were busy writing scripts. All of the
production work was underway. The filming of the episodes began in that
summer, BUT
the filming of 'The Fishin' Hole' sequence is what Americans would first see of
 TAGS.
I assume the filming of 'The Fishin' Hole' opening for the color episodes
was done around July of 1965. Little did we know that Kirk and Spock would be
running around that area in the 'Star Trek' episode 'The Paradise Syndrome',
in 1968, in the T.V. season after TAGS ended. 'The Paradise Syndrome' is
aptly named in hindsight, considering TAGS fans think of fictional Mayberry as
an utopian society. Also, the Bradys camped there overnight in 1969 in
'A-Camping We Will Go.'
At the time, little Ronny Howard could have cared less about the
significance of that day. He would have probably rather been watching the
Dodgers losing
to the Cincinnati Reds 4-1 at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum that night.
