Let's talk Cashew Fudge for a break,

From time to time we all see how the show is a part of our lives in so
many ways. My life has mirrored Mayberry for yeeears! When I was a
boy, my barber ran for sheriff - and won! My mom then worked for him.
He was a deacon at our church. He also had the exact same flat top
chart on his barber shop wall as Floyd had. The list goes on & on.

I always wanted to try some of Barn & Thel's Cashew Fudge, on a Tuesday
night while watching that Doctor show on TV. So my wife & I looked for
yeeears at all the tourist fudge shops and other places and never found
Cashew Fudge! You would think that would be a popular version of the
common nut fudge selections! I still have never seen it. We figured
this would make the perfect Christmas gift, and we could give different
amounts according to how close we are to the recipients, etc. We have
yet to find anyone who does not like chocolate fudge or cashews.
Curiously, we couldn't find a recipe! So we simply altered her dad's
walnut fudge recipe and tested it several times to get it just right.
We tried different brands of cashews, different kinds of chocolate
(that really made big differences in the taste) and even different
marshmallows! After exhaustive testing, we finally got the recipe
perfect and submitted it to my good friends Jim Clark & Ken Beck for
their Aunt Bee's Delightful Desserts recipe book and it made the
cut/slice/piece! We are published! Page 104! When we got our copy of
the book, I felt like Ernest T. when he got his diploma! Three cuts of
pie may be my high water mark, but this fudge is too good to stop
eating even if you are counting carbs! I can't think of a better way
to have a taste of Mayberry!
