I am not sure if we have discussed this before so bare with me if we have. Does anyone know if there was a reason Andy never wore a hat in Mayberry? Almost all the other men, visitors included, wore a dress hat or a white hat. The only time I can recall wearing any kind of hat was when Malcolm found Andy's police hat and Andy put it on. Andy never wore one when going to church, or when he was on a date, or when he went fishing, which was very unusual. I just wonder if he had a personal reason why he didn't wear one.
