I happened to catch another list this weekend. VH1 had a list of the 100
greatest child stars of all time (this special is actually about a year old or
so;
I only saw it Sunday). Evidently they think 98% of them came around in the
'70s or later. No Ricky Nelson, no Little Ricky, no Shirley Temple, no Beav,
no Oscar-nominated Patty Duke, not a single one of My Three Sons, not a single
'50s Mouseketeer, not a single Little Rascal.

But guess who did make the list? Yep, Opie came in at #7. Those TAGS
excerpts (including the one where he's cradling the dead songbird) had the
distinction of being the oldest clips in the Brady-heavy special. And they had
some
very nice things to say about Ronny Howard. Even his "Happy Days" tenure took
back seat to his TAGS days on this special. Only other '60s era kid was Butch
Patrick of "The Munsters" (unless you count all six Bradys since their show
premiered in '69).

For the record: #1 on that list was Gary Coleman.
