Congratulations to TAGS and its spin-offs 'Gomer Pyle USMC' and 'Mayberry
R.F.D.' for taking three of the twenty spots. It's funny, Andy didn't want to
be
compared with 'The Beverly Hillbillies.' TAGS was set in a rural setting but
it wasn't corn comedy, and he said this at the time it originally aired.
When George Lindsey first appeared on 'Hee Haw', the company there gave
him the cold shoulder early on because he was considered "Hollywood." A
special
kudos to 'The Dukes of Hazzard' too because of their TAGS connection.
