I grew up in a Mayberry like town...Bethpage,TN....We had one school that
served grades one through eighth but later on changed to just six grades. When
you got old enough to go to high school you had to ride the bus to Bethpage,
get on another bus and go to the high school in the next big town. We had a
constable, two small grocery stores, a little post office, a garage, and a
small bank. The store where we went had 2 gas pumps and you could buy stuff on

credit!!! We also had a party line and I used to listen to the old ladies
talking all the time until they heard me breath and told me to get off. Oh, if
only things were still that simple. Bethpage is still that small but now they
have their own Christmas parade.
