Sure there is, in the scene where Andy is washing the car. Barney comes up and salutes Andy, to which Andy replies, "Barney, I told you you don't have to do that. See, this isn't the army, it's just me and you." Barney then gives his speech about how Andy choose him as his deputy when there were many other applicants. All of this indicates that Barney had just been hired.
