The first two seasons of Mayberry R.F.D. were filmed on the same back lot as TAGS (40 Acres, in Culver City). The third season was filmed ... somewhere's else. I think it had something to do with one studio buying out another. All the interiors (fix-it shop, bakery, Howard's office, etc.) were still the same, but Mayberry itself looked quite different.
There's an episode entitled "Goober's New Gas Station," in which Goober opens a new station in the middle of town. While digging an oil pit, he uncovers some big old bones, which Howard identifies as dinosaur fossils. The singles' apartment complex was actually in nearby Mt.
