Yeah, I wrote that about the cold weather because it bugs me a lot, but I have to admit I would be getting off TAGS a bit because it's other shows that most offends. They have settings in the real cold states (for no discernible reason, unlike the clear reason Andy chose North Carolina) and then treat the occasional cold blast like "we're just kidding." Either play cold the way you play anger, for real, or just keep things warm. Many of you probably know which shows I'm talking about. But yeah, I will admit it also bothers me to no end--and this occurs as much in TAGS as in almost all shows and movies--actors who complain of being hot not using the common sense off taking off jackets, or of wearing shorts instead of thicker jeans etc.; I realize Opie may have had to wear jeans at school in those days, but not while at home. Most boys I knew in the South pulled off good jeans for shorts in the summertime. The only time I remember Opie choosing to wear shorts was when he was in the race. I thought how cute he looked. But most of the time it was ironed jeans and dress buttoned-down shirts, which were indeed the style in those days. And have you ever seen people dying of thirst throwing away good water by tossing it over their heads? I have NEVER understood that. I know they are hot and dirty. But a killing thirst would beg to be satisfied first, wouldn't it? I mean, these people are not yet to the insane part of dying. And yet I have yet to watch a movie when some idiot didn't throw away good water on a dirty body. Happens all the time. Especially on the older movies. And I watch a lot of them. But not even Ernest T. Bass would do that. But on to better things. The Miracle Salve is what cured J. Oliver. Stuff may not work a lick on winkles, but it knocks the thunder out of mange. Laura Lee keeps the shelves full of it in the Dime Store. She swears by it. Lydia, obsessed by the weather--in this I have a lot in common with President Calvin Coolridge
