I had a few moments to relax while at work and I started to wonder about all
those great TAGS characters who made a sole appearance. I think my favorite of
all is Malcolm Tucker. That is such a magical episode. It's my dad's favorite.
It reminds him of rural Alabama in the 30s and 40s, homemade ice cream,
apple-peeling, talking and dozing on the front porch. I also am touched by hobo
David Browne and his taking a fall for Opie's sake. I often think, if not for
Beverly Hillbillies, Buddy Ebsen might have been a semi-regular. That unfilmed
script in Kelley's TAGS' book, The Wandering Minstrel, almost seems written for
him. Other one-shots I liked are Hubcaps Lesch, Uncle Ollie, Cousin Virgil and
Otis' brother (was his name Ralph?). Do any WBMUTBB readers have their
favorites?
