I was over at the Dime Store reading my copy of the book, "Odd Facts Known By
Few," when Laura Lee Hobbs asked me if I ever wondered why television people
seemed to watch so little tv.
I told her that was a might fine observation, and asked how long she had to set
under the thanking bucket to come up with it, but I had no idea why they never
seemed to have their tv on in the background the way ours is all the time.
The Taylors probably watched the most, come to think of it. But I hardly ever
saw
the Cleavers turn theirs on; and for six kids the Brady Bunch surely kept tv
viewing
to a minimum. Maybe that's why their children were all so beautiful and popular
and nice and, well, mine ain't.
It makes you think.

And another thing, Bob asked if we noticed the difference between the way Andy
reacted to Barney and the way he reacted to Warren? Ah, yeah. And I got the
least little notion here that it speaks to why Warren didn't last on the show.

While I am no fan of Warren, I feel this way: Warren was handed a thankless
task; he
ran as fast as he could in the shoes he was given; he was almost surely
treated at least in part unfairly (I know we love these people but even people
we
admire can do wrong);
Having said that, this kind of thing happens to almost everybody and you
just cannot let it ruin your life, no matter how unfair or embarrassing it is
for you
at the time.
And in just reading these posts today, I can tell the "Warren" issue is much
softer
on the side of Warren now than it was just a few years ago. And wherever
Warren is today, I hope he can know about them.
