Andy Griffith's full name is Andy Samuel Griffith (not Andrew Samuel Griffith). Sheriff Taylor's full name is Andrew Jackson Taylor, but there's no reason a father can't give his son a different middle name and still add the suffix "junior." To make matters even more confusing, Andy Griffith's adopted son was named Sam Andy Griffith.
