I agree with Janet's take on whether Barney & Thelma Lou had real feelings for
each other. Barney's expression on his face when she introduced her husband,
revealed it all, & Thelma Lou's as she told him showed she still cared for him.
I think as she wrote, it was the fear of commitment that kept him from asking
her to be his wife. Thelma Lou must have felt that since she hadn't heard from
him, that it was a hopeless situation as far as he was concerned. It's not
surprising that she found a new love who wanted to marry her.
