Peanut butter to be banned from state's prisons to prevent escapes
Tennessee prison officials are banning peanut butter because they
say inmates are hiding drugs, cell phones and even guns in the 18-ounce jars.
The ban comes as a result of an inmate escape last August when
George Hyatte and his wife ambushed two prison guards and escaped from a
court hearing at the Roane County courthouse.
An investigation revealed Hyatte smuggled a cell phone into prison
and used it to coordinate the breakout.

Looks like Barney had a good reason for not letting prisoners have peanut
butter and jelly sandwiches. This is yet another example of folks in
Mayberry being ahead of their time.
