Joy Ellison has experienced work as a dialect coach in Hollywood as far back as 1960, when she appeared in three first season episodes of TAGS. She noticed Andy's over the top "hayseed" accent. During the filming of 'Andy Forecloses' she tugged on Andy's pant legs to get his attention. Remember now, this was almost at the end of that first season. Andy said "What is it, Joy?" Joy replies with all her little girl charm "You really need to drop that "hayseed" accent. It's too much." Andy thinks about it a while and says "Why Joy, I believe you're right." As we all know, Andy toned it down, and was still Southern without the over done drawl. Well, this anecdote is fiction, BUT it would have been a great story.
