Allan,
It's been quite some time since I have posted to WBMUTBB - I hope you are
well. Been a loyal reader since you started this newsletter years back and am
glad that it has continued to flourish. In learning that Don Knotts passed
away, I wanted to write a brief tribute.
I had the privilege of seeing Don Knotts in a play in Cincinnati back in 1998
and was fortunate to meet him afterwards. He had a pleasant smile and we
talked about how he enjoyed his time on the Griffith Show. He was very funny
in his performance and I was pretty amazed at how active he was for his age at
the time.
Don gave us countless laughs, and certainly grew as a comedian from his time
entertaining WWII troops to the Steve Allen Show to TAGS and beyond. I still
almost fall out of my chair remembering his scenes showing Gomer how to draw
and firing a stray bullet or telling criminals how to behave at "The Rock".
Let's all give a moment of thanks and silence for Don Knotts, an
extraordinary comedian and a solid guy.
