I totally agree with you Martha. The song fits Mayberry but what I was saying is that it wasn't something most backwoods country folk like Gomer would have heard of. I believe it's from "Man of la Mancha"
The 2nd song was a Mario lanza song and again, not something I thought Gomer would have been familiar with. However Mayberry did have Barney singing the light classics so maybe those songs were regularly heard in Mayberry.
