I'm somewhat behind in my Digest reading but regarding all the funny lines in TAGS, you need to remember some lines are not funny unless you see the actual scene. In other words, a funny one liner would have to encompass the imagined action......"Nip it in the bud" works, "Boy giraffes are selfish" does not work. Nip it works because it's a statement/directive and is easily imagined. Giraffes are selfish doesn't stand on it own as most non-TAGS folks wouldn't know what in the world you mean.....they would assume (and you know what THAT means) you do not like giraffes.
But the dogs, nothing but dogs works because you get the entire picture. Also, delivery is 50%. With Barney yelling Nip it, you get it. A dead pan giraffes line doesn't go over well. I have spent years compiling one liners from TAGS and if anyone would like a copy, email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] I use one liners all the time and usually get the deer in the headlights look for a few seconds and then they shake their head and remark - "Oh, she's on her TAGS kick again!" I just give em the good ol Mona Lisa smile and they walk away, completely and utterly confused, dazed and disgusted!
