First, a big thank you to John for supplying Lt. Columbo's first name to me and Laura Lee Hobbs. That girl was driving me crazy to find out his name and now that is a mystery that has finally been solved. But on to the biggest mystery of them all. Who is the real Mr. Schwump? Certainly there has to be someone somewhere who knows this gentleman's identity. Somebody had to hire him for the role of Mr. Schwump, didn't they? Surely there is a record of his being hired, or of his receiving payments for the shows he appeared on, or something. Even though he did not have a speaking part, I'm pretty sure he had to be paid something, or at least sign a contract. He didn't just show up for free, completely unannounced. Wouldn't he be a member of the Screen Actors Guild? And didn't anyone on the set EVER talk to this man to know enough about him to remember any information? Granted the major players may have been too busy to have gotten involved with the lesser walk-on actors, but he had to have left his mark and his memory somewhere with someone. It just seems incredible to me and Laura Lee Hobbs that no one can remember his name or how to find it. Didn't he leave any family behind that should know how popular the show has become and would wish to let every one know of their love one's connection to it? These questions keep me and Laura Lee Hobbs up at night. And both of us girls need out rest... Lydia and Laura Lee Hobbs...questions and no answers will drive a girl crazy
