I'm sure most of you know this information already, but while the name "OPIE" is not in the Bible, "GOMER" is. Gomer was the adulterous wife of the prophet Hosea. "Gomer" was also a region in the Assyrian Empire circa 700 B.C. of what is now the country of Turkey. The Desilu "Gomer" ,of course, was something totally different, BUT he can still belt out some mean gospel tunes.
