Clara Bertha Johnson was saddled at a birth with a name she didn't enjoy. All during her childhood, everyone in the family called her Bertha after her mother's favorite aunt. The name she hated followed her all through school. Once grown, she successfully made the transition to Clara with only her oldest and dearest friends continuing to call her Bertha. She successfully made the transition when she married Harold Edwards (you remember their son Gene) and officially changed her name to Clara Johnson Edwards. To seal the deal, she made it a point to not answer even her old friends should anyone call her Bertha after she married.
I hope that helps. dan _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
