You know, I started being the Flora tribute artist only so I could hang out with my brother who does "Wally." But as I watched the Flora episodes so I could get out outfit right, I noticed some things about her that I have to admire. She was an old-fashioned girl caught in the women's movement of the 60's. Of course, this is not done heavy-handed in Mayberry. We just see her being one of few women who wore slacks, and she takes a job traditionally associated with men at the gas station. I have to admire that. But she does it to help Goober. And when she succeeds at the job to the point Goober might loose his job, she steps down when Andy helps her see what is happening. I have to admire that too. There is an innocent sweetness as well as a desire to to things right that make Flora a character I would aspire to be more like. Like Jenny said, there is a lot to admire in almost all the characters. I just wanted to put in a good word for Flora.
