When I taught elementary school, I always had my students write Haiku
Poetry. Came across some old samples while cleaning out some files. Got me
thinking about Mayberry Haikus. So I wrote some for some of the leading
people on TAGS. Hope you enjoy them.

 Mayberry Haikus

          Opie

A fine little boy

Seeing men walk atop trees

 Red hair brings good luck

Barney

Skinny and nervous

Helping kids to cross the street

Bullet in pocket

Otis

Harmless as a cat

Stumbling in each Friday night

Moon shiner's best friend

Leon

Silent as the wind

Peanut butter on his face

Roaming around town

Andy

Defender of law

>From the heart and not the book

Cousin to Barney

Aunt Bee

Heart so full of love

Godliness above all else

Kerosene pickles

Howard

Lives with mother dear

Deviated septum nose

Dateless Friday nights

Sarah

Never sleeps at night

Invisible and silent

Answers every call

Ernest T

Rocks tossed through the glass

No milk, tea, or punch thank you

Romona's true love

Floyd

 A deceitful wretch

Cutting hair upon each head

Tongue tied with ladies
