Shoot, the guys didn't "embrace" at the end of the Reunion show. That's
just what Charlene would call "huggy! huggy!"

"But why in the world does he wear that big thick black haired toupee?"

Gomer wears a rug? I just assumed it was his natural hair, with a little color
"booster". Perhaps it was a silent tribute to Mr. Schwamp.

Big Jim asked about whether Andy's parents were ever mentioned on the show, and
the only times I remember them being mentioned is when Aunt Bee and Andy are
talking about Opie growing up. Aunt Bee mentions the fact that there is some
furniture in the attic that was Andy's parents. The only other time is when
Andy tells Barney that he remembers his Daddy asking Asa (the bank & Weaver's
security guard) to let him hold Asa's gun. Does anyone else remember any
other time Andy's parents are mentioned?

I hope everyone is having a wonderful and safe New Year!!!

I remember when that came up last time. It should be noticed that when Don
first appears in the special he *does* embrace Ron and I think even Andy.

While I am thinking about it, those of you who haven't checked out the TV Party
website, now would be a great time to do so. They current have four pages
devoted to "The Andy Griffith Show." Pay the little fee to visit the rest of
the site and you'll find some more TAGS-related goodies here and there
including sponsor ID's and cast commercials.

I saw "Briscoe Darlin" on an episode of the Walton's called The Reunion.
He plays a cousin of the Baldwin ladies who tries to turn their house
into a bootleg operation. Course he probably told the sheriff that it
was just mulberry sqeezin's.

"Was that reunion show a rerun from last year?"

Yes. It was the same one that aired in November, 2003. I didn't watch it this
time, but the title was the same and from the comments people are making about
it on the digest, I am sure it is the same one.

------------------------------------------------------------

"Starting with the first episode Andy was always saying how Aunt Bea raised him
growing up.Where were his Mom and Dad? Were they both deceased? Because I dont
ever recall them ever talking about Andy's Mom and Dad on the Show"

Andy's dad was mentioned a couple of times. Once was in "The Keeper of the
Flame" when Opie joins the secret club and Andy blames him for starting a fire
in Jubal Foster's barn. At the end of the episode, Andy is sitting with Opie
in Opie's room and tells Opie that as a child, he (Andy) had been the keeper of
the flame in a club. He said when his daddy found out about it, he indicated
"right here" (Andy pats his rear end) that he did not want young Andy to keep
that job because it was dangerous. Instead he gave Andy a flashlight and
changed his title to keeper of the flashlight. Adult Andy then pulls a
flashlight out of a bag and gives it to Opie so that Opie can be keeper of the
flashlight.

The other time I can think of is in the episode where Barney is giving the bank
a security check. Andy says that when he was little, his dad talked Asa into
letting young Andy hold Asa's gun. He says it was a big thrill for a little
guy.

I don't remember Andy's mother ever being mentioned. I get the impression that
Andy's mom died when he was very young, just like Opie's, and that Aunt Bee
came to live with Andy and his dad to help raise Andy just like she came to
live with Andy and Opie to help raise Opie.
That's my opinion, anyway.
