I have a rare, w/o/c network copy of the pilot, "The New Housekeeper," and it
sounds that way on that one too. So that's apparently the way it sounded
when it first aired. Apparently the producers changed their minds after the
first
few episodes and had the "lower" version after that and for the rest of the
run.

Hi all
At Mayberry Days 2004 I finally got around to purchasing the second version
of the Mayberry Board Game (Mayberry Mania I think its called). . . and its
AWESOME!! We just broke it out a few nights ago - I really enjoyed myself.
My husband and I played it (although you can have up to 8 players I think)
and it lasted for more than an hour and we just had the best time. It was
much more challenging than the first board game - and I recommend this game
for any level of expertise.
Thats it, in a nutshell!

Someone recently mentioned that the pilot for the Andy Griffith show is on a
disc, Make Room For Daddy. I tried to find a copy of that disc and was told
that it is now out of pt. I really would like to have a copy of the pilot. Can
anyone help me out?

Going thru my VHS Andy "special" collection, I pulled out my tape of the
30th anniversary show produced by TBS. I'll say more about that below,
but first help me (and others) inventory our Post-production Griffith
Show related specials.
Was this the first Reunion show?" (30th Anniv by TBS)
We have of course "Return to Mayberry"--the made for TV Movie
The E! True Hollywood Story--Andy of Mayberry (circa 2002?)
There is The "Inside TVLand" Special about TAGS..probably filmed about
2000 based on age of stars.
The "Biography" show on A&E produced specials on Andy, Don and Ron
Howard (late 90s??) with TAGS highlights.
There is the recently shown (2003) Reunion special with Andy, Ronny, Don
and Jim Nabors with the rebuilt courthouse set.
The TVLand awards show in 2004 (or was it 2003?) was a very special
night, and mini-reunion for the stars as our favorite show got special
recognition.
I also have the recent Sunday morning news show of Andy at his home on
Roanoke Island.
OK that's my collection, what am I missing??
About that 30th Anniversary show.
What's neat about it is the following stars appear on stage with a live
audience, Don Knotts, Betty Lynn, George Lindsay, Hal Smith, Howard
Morris, and Jack Dodson. There are also separate interviews with Anetra
Coursant, Elinor Donahue, Bob Sweeney, Everett Greenbaum, Harvey Bullock
and others.
The six stars (but not Andy) are on a stage that looks somewhat like the
Taylor home. The special is 3 hours long but includes 4 or 5 episodes
in their entirety.
Among the studio audience asking the stars questions is our own founder,
Jim Clark (The Andy Griffith Rerun Watchers Club). Jim, any special
memories of this event?? You've been with the stars many times, but this
may have been one of the few televised events. Why wasn't Andy
there...was this when his illness was hindering him? (He did a cameo at
the end)
Thanks for any answers

Can anyone tell me the context and the correct quote when Barney told Andy,
"Well let me tell you, it's like a tale out of two cities."

Kevin/Horatio, I don't know if our calendars are the same, but here goes:
On the front of the calendar is the picture from July, and on the inside cover
is a picture of Barney, Andy and Gomer which I believe is from the "Rimshaw
Haunted House episode.
January shows Barney with his mouth twisted to the right and I believe Andy is
bragging on him and Barney is embarrassed.
February shows Andy and Gomer, with Gomer looking over at Andy with a big grin.
Andy is looking over at Goober while he does his impression of Edgar G.
Robinson.
March is a picture of Aunt Bee with a hat on and a sneaky smile on her face. I
believe this is the episode where Aunt Bee entered Miss Ellie in the beauty
contest Andy was judging, without Miss Ellie's knowledge.
April is a picture of Barney in a flannel shirt and Gomer in a dark sweater.
This is the episode where Barney and Gomer along with Andy took Opie and his
pals camping. Barney comes through in the end as a real "pioneer" as he
follows the lake loon.
May is a picture of Andy at home sitting on the couch reading a newspaper. I'm
not completely certain, but I think this is the episode where Andy just needs
to take a vacation.
June shows a picture of Opie with his tongue sticking out of the side of his
mouth. He has an excited look in his eyes and I believe this is the episode
where he finds Mr. Parnell Rigsby's wallet. Or maybe this is "Opie the
Birdman" episode and Barney is teaching him how to shoot his new slingshot???
July is a picture of Opie and Andy with large playing cards in their hands. I
don't ever remember this picture from any TAGS episode, but some of you may
have seen it.
August is a picture of Barney hanging in Andy's front closet in the neck
harness trying to stretch himself so he will meet the new height requirements
for deputies.
September is a picture of Andy looking up at somebody to his left.... I'm not
sure what episode this is from.
October is a picture in front of the courthouse, of Andy looking up in
frustration while Barney is looking at Andy wearing his goggles and helmet.
This is where Barney decides to be "checkpoint chickie" with his motor"sickle".
November is a picture of Barney in one of the cells wiith his hands up. I
believe this is the episode that he let Gentleman Dan Caldwell get the drop on
him, or maybe some other "bad guy".
December shows Andy talking to someone while pointing with his left hand. I'm
pretty sure this is the episode where Barney and Thelma Lou have a fight
because of the attention he pays to "Melissa" the new girl in town. Andy seems
to me to be saying to Barney something like... "I wonder why a girl as big city
and flashy as she is ...... would want to get involved with a 'squirt'."
I may be wrong on a couple of these, but this is the best I could do.
.............you give 'em 40 they'll take 45.....you give them 45 they'll take
50.......

What is the episode title where Bartney gets a free cemetary plot if he will
marry the girl who pits prunes? Is there some where on the internet where I
can print the story Barney tells Andy about this girl and her father driving by
in his limousine every day?
Thanks, Jim

Is the only mention of Barney having a house when Andy asks him if he'd like
to have the cannon "sitting in from of his house." I know this was season 1
and they hadn't established Barney's character fully yet. Now that I think
of it, that might be the 1st mention of his living quarters at all.

I realize that The Love God was probably the least successful movie that Don
Knotts
stared in but I am so fascinated with the talents that he demonstrates in that
movie.
It shows intelligence and abilities of him that we don't see in other movies
and shows,
and in some scenes in the movie it is almost like seeing him perform live. So
much I
wish that I would have had many opportunities to see him perform live over the
years.
Yet I am grateful that I did finally get to see him perform live once, at the
cast reunion in Nashville last June.
And to think that I am guilty of being the one who probably watched the Andy
Griffith show the least, until recent years. It was too much like watching
myself.
