I believe that the episode that we see Barney's mother in would be "The
Manhunt"

Teresa Elkins

>Barney's parents,

We do see Barney's mother in one episode.....who can name it? I know, I just
like to keep normal conversation going as I hate chit-chat.

Barney's mother was seen in Episode 2 "The Manhunt" where Barney actually
stops frisks his mother. I think her one and only line was, "But I'm your
mother". If you listen real carefully, I think you can hear the clock in
her stomach tick because it was getting close to lunchtime. But she did not
have her hat pulled down over her ears. I think she was on her way home to
see the new septic tank Barney bought her and his dad for their anniversary.

"Don't wear my hat Andy. Don't wear my hat. I can't stand to wear a hat
after it has been on someone else's head. My mother was that way."

"I remember that about your mother."

We see Barney's mother when he's pattin' her down just in case she's the
fugitive dressed up like his mother. She says, "But Barney, I'm your mother!"
after he frisks her down.

I like all the things Allan does for us, too.

signed Lydia, I hate to chit-chat. I don't mind ordinary
conversations. But I hate to chit-chat.

TAGS readers,

This Thursday dailyread.com will publish the final two
chapters of my novel "Murder in Mayberry". In it,
Andy explains how he solved the crime and we learn the
age old answer to why Barney would have left Mayberry.

Thanks to everyone who's been reading and commenting!

Jeff Krentz, our Detroit dude, mentions "shooting rats at the dump" in his
post about 'frog giggin.' That needs to be done in the streets of Washington
D.C. at night. In retrospect, Gomer could have done it when he visited D.C. in
the 'Gomer Pyle USMC' episodes filmed there in 1967. Unlawful as it may be, the
thought is entertaining. Lawmakers and D.C. city council members take note!
