Hello!
In response to relatives in Mayberry one pair comes to my mind, Clara and her
son Gayle. Did we ever actually see ol' Gayle?
Concerning heat, one episode sticks out in my mind. It's the one where Opie
comes to the table with no shirt on and Aunt Bee fusses at him. I believe he
says something like, "But Aunt Bee it's hot"

Re: Sweat and Heat -
Gomer sweated when he was trying fix the bandstand (Well, its a whole days
work and I'm too pooped to start)
Ralph Haynes always sweated (from the reunion)
It was very hot during the episode where Aunt Bee bought the side of beef
b/c they mentioned the heat specifically, and she was sitting on the porch
fanning herself
The Cave Rescue
Andy sweated when he did Mr. Wheeler's work....
I think Andy sweated when pushing Barney's care that he bought from Ms. Lesch
Malcolm appeared to sweat when training to fight Ernest T......
Goober's friend Roy can be seen wiping his brow when working under a car
The thief in Crime Free Mayberry wiped his brow when attemtping to crack the
safe at the bank....
Otis sweated when working for Aunt Bee (Bloody Mary!!!!)
Surely there are many more....

"Anybody recall some other times someone broke a sweat?"
Dan, I remember on the episode when Aunt Bee won the prizes on the TV show.
She insisted on wearing her fur coat and Andy commented that it must be 80
degrees out that day. 80 degrees is considered pretty pleasant here in TX, but
we still wouldn't be wearing coats.

I wonder if Floyd ever had the problem I had when younger....
I was a tall person.... 6' 5" and the barber was short, about 5-5. Back then,
I had a crew cut as did most of the people I knew. Instead of cutting my hair
properly, he leaned me over and made a flat cut. Then he went around the
other side and leaned me over and made another flat cut.
I walked out with an A frame haircut!!
He also had a raffle going all the time. One of his family always won
everything he raffled off!! Where was Barney when you needed him?? He would
have
nipped it in the bud, that's what he'd a'done!!

Our pastor is going to be using some TAGS scenes in August. He's asked me
for 2 episodes: #43, The Pickle Story. Since that's on the 2nd year DVD,
I'm in good shape with this one, but he's also asking for #146, The Lucky
Letter which is way down in the 5th season.
Is there anyone with #146 who can make me a VHS tape or burn a DVD? I'll be
glad to pay for the media and for the shipping.
Please respond to me directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Many thanks.

I think Andy broke a sweat defending Barney from Al at the Tip Top Cafe (
and got a black eye)
Opie probably broke a sweat when got bored and walked to the old mine and
fell asleep in the apple truck.
Aunt Bee definitely broke a sweat cleaning up the kitchen after Malcolm's
fake fall off the wagon.
Barney and Gomer had to break a sweat trying to repair the bandstand in time
for the band concert ( and Gomer was " down there with them spiders! " )
I sure Andy and Barney broke a sweat walking a loaded coat clear to the
county line.
I think Mayor Stoner broke out in a sweat when he realized that Barney
tagged the Governor's car.
Come to think of it, Mayberry was a pretty sweaty town.

When Nurse Mary and Andy showed Rafe Hollister the thermometer, he said he knew
when he was sick. He got hot, dang hot. But don't worry everybody. Sooner or
later, we're bound to get cold again. Does that count as a heat reference?
How about when Man in a Hurry mopped his forehead as he walked in to town from
where his car broke down? And Otis got pretty warm chopping wood for Bloody
Mary.
I have wondered why Andy and Barney always wore long sleeve work shirts and
sometimes coats. I guess North Carolina gets chilly near the mountains. Is
that right, all you who live in the shadows of the Blue Ridge mountains?

Are we expected to believe that nobody can get through on a Sunday
afternoon. I understand a party line of 2 or 3 people where if Maude
Mendlebright were talking to her sister the other 1 or 2 people on her
party line would be affected but the entire town? What if Somebody fell
down and hurt themselves? Would they go untreated b/c nobody could get a
hold of the doctor? Or a thief took advantage of Sunday store closings
to rob Art Crowley's Market or Franklyn's Pharmacy? Would these crimes
go unpunished?

Yes it is on Friday. This year it is scheduled to be held at the new
amphitheatre rather than the grounds of the Playhouse.
>I can't give it the time that I would like. Which day is better for

Saturday has more things going on - from when the sun comes up to way past
the shank of the evening - but Friday is not without its fun. The official
schedule won't be set until September, but you can look at last year's in
the Mayberry Confidential (still online at www.surryarts.org on the MD page)
and get a good sense of what will happen this year. If you only had one day
to go, I would recommend Saturday mainly because you got to experience
Friday last year, plus Allan puts the trivia questions online so you can
still test your knowledge.

The trivia contest at Mayberry Days is always on Friday afternoon about 4:30
pm. As for which day (Friday or Saturday) is better for activities, that's
like asking which of your children do you love better. They are both
chock-full of great activities. I would go online to http://www.surryarts.org
and see which activities you like better and go that day. However, to get the
full Mayberry experience, both days are needed.
