I found it interesting that the diagnosis on the space shuttle was a fuel
gauge problem. They probably consulted Gomer for that one:

"Could be your gauge. Sometimes she'll tell you "F" when you really got
yourself an "E." Too bad Mr. Tucker couldn't have gotten the same result......

And I'll bet the water, and especially the air are NOT free on the
shuttle.....

Hey everybody. I already have vacation plans during the Don Knott's
Film Festival next month, so I can't go. What I wanted to know is, is
this an annual event? If so, I'd like to plan to go next year. Is it a
specific weekend or certain dates each year? Any info would be great.
Please post if you go this year and let us know was it was about and
what there is to do. Thanks in advance. Horatio (Kevin)

You know what puts TAGS way ahead of the other great comedy
shows of its kind? Even its "throw away" humor is funny.

Yeah, we all know, and endlessly quote the classics, but how about lines like
Barney buying Thel a pineapple peeler to replace that fur coat he had bought
her that was falling to
pieces (bunches, bunches)? Now who thought of a pineapple
peeler! A septic tank is a brilliant gag for a present, but in its on humble
way, so is a pineapple peeler, and it
had to have been pretty hard to just think up. I mean, if
you're trying to think of a cheap gift to give Barney to buy for his girl, a
pineapple peeler isn't the first thing
to pop in mind. (Granted, thinking up a septic tank for
the parents doesn't pop up first thing either, but you get my drift.)

Naw, pineapple peeler is one of those throw away lines that
in a lesser show would have been not at all funny because they would have had
Barney buying something like a shoe polish kit or a pair of socks, you know
just a cheap, but not really funny second present. But in TAGS they did not
play easy. They stayed in character, thought hard, and went for the funny.
Glorious.

And this is just one reason why this show is as entertaining today as it was
nearly 40 years ago. Nobody got hurt, but everybody made funny. And the
writers never took the easy way out. They stayed funny. Even in the
throw-away lines. And I do appreciate it so! I know you do too.

Lydia, I hate it when people get their feelings hurt, but I
love a good laugh better than anything, and no show does it better than our
TAGS.

I was wondering if any of you have seen those gypsies lately that came through
Mayberry a while back? It is so hot and dry here in Cincinnati that I was
wondering if they had put a "no rain curse" on us?? I would even be willing to
buy a ceremonial shawl and a pair of earrings if it would help??? Maybe Queen
Lafarona could work her magic and bring us some much needed rain! After all
Cincinnati is known as the "Queen City"

.......Ah never mind....I guess I'll just listen to the radio and see what the
weather is like in Greenland and that will let me know when we are going to get
some rain.

"Through the forest wild and free........ HEY"

....Did you see the price they are getting down at Crowley's market for
tomatoes????.........

Talking to the Morgantown man in charge of the festival. He said there
is a chance Don can not attend. I am planning on going but not sure now
if he will not be there. He said it all depends on his health and at
this time it is up in the air. If anyone goes you may want to call a day
or two before to find out so you dont drive many miles to not see him.
Hope he can attened and is in good health to come.
