I was watching the Beverly Hillbillies this morning on WGN Chicago and lo and
behold I saw Clara Edwards playing an accountant of the business school Jethro
was enrolling in. I had seen this episode several times before; but had not
noticed Clara until today. Now there's a hot topic for the ladies at the
Mayberry Garden Club. Sam Scott Madisonville, Kentucky

Does anyone remember the episode where Gomer was saying something about
'you never know what makes a man grumpy'? What episode was this and how
did this line go exactly? I always try to remember this line when I run
into someone who is not very polite. I try to give them the benefit of
the doubt. Could be the tag on their shirt is rubbing them wrong.
Thanks for the help. I 'preciate it.

What is all this about not seeing Otis falling down?
Why, he suffered a very serious injury! Obviously multiple contusions and
cartilage damage... Besides, we all "heard" him fall. Whether you realize it or
not, my client has suffered a very serious injury! Of course, we could settle
out of court.......

Erin, I know Charlene didn't want to hear it, but I'd like to.
Another unseen scene, and with good reason, is Ernest T tossing the rock
through Hogette's window. Pretty name, painful head.

I have one story I wish they could have made an episode of, and that is when
Barney gave his parents the septic tank for a present!
Can you imagine the proud looks on their faces when they looked out the
window and saw this thing sitting there?
But then, living out in the country with the "little brown building out back"
this could have been the best gift they could have gotten. Now they can move
the "facilities" inside! No more cold nights or rainy days! No more swatting
wasps as you sit and read the Sears Roebuck catalog!
Maybe it was a fine gift after all!!

BTW...wifes last bone marrow biopsy was clean all the way...every test showed
no leukemic cells. No more marrow tests until another year goes by!

Boojum Snark(Sprit of the fore), Brillin Trant (Sprit of the water) and
Robely Barch (Sprit of the air) ?

Can you imagine my surprise when the Dillards showed up last week to play at
our Opera House here in Sumter, SC. We went over to the Deli with them. They
are so wonderful, they talked and took pictures and signed autographs and then
put on a great show for us. If you would like to see some pictures, just e-mail
me...I got some good ones.

>>The Poem on the wall of the Post Office about Barney. In fact I'm not
sure we ever saw the inside of the post Office period.
You're correct in that we never do see the post office interior, but Barney
actually found the following uncomplimentary limerick on the wall of the
bank, not the post office:
There once was a deputy called Fife
Who carried a gun and a knife.
The gun was all dusty,
The knife was all rusty,
'Cause he never caught a crook in his life.

Not sure if these have been mentioned, but we don't see any of the birth of
Sam Becker's baby, or even his wife in the "Quiet Sam" episode.

The Don Knotts Festival has been postponed indefinitely due to Don's not
being able to attend. (He's O.K., but just not up to the rigors of
making the trip and doing an appearance.)
Morgantown organizers do still plan to dedicate Don's star on their Walk
of Fame and officially start their Don Knotts chapter of TAGSRWC during
the weekend when the festival would have been, but without Don in
attendance, there won't be much reason for folks from out of town to
attend those ceremonies.
We will have an official statement from Morgantown to pass along later
but we wanted to give everyone a heads up.

I just opened my Adelphia Home page, and found this on their news page:
"Don Knotts' Failing Health Delays Festival
Wednesday, August 3, 2005 8:06 AM EDT
The Associated Press
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Don Knotts' failing health has forced his hometown to
indefinitely postpone a parade and film festival in his honor that had been
scheduled for Aug. 12-14.
A doctor for the 81-year-old Emmy-winning actor advised him not to travel from
Beverly Hills, Calif., said Stacey Brodak, executive director of the Greater
Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau.
"He had hoped to be here for the celebration, but escalating health issues have
made it unwise for him to make the cross-country trip at this time," she said
Tuesday.
Brodak didn't elaborate on the nature of his ailment.
Knotts, a Morgantown native with dozens of film credits, is best known as the
bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show" and as would-be swinger
landlord Ralph Furley on "Three's Company."
This fall, he'll be the voice of Turkey Mayor in the animated film "Chicken
Little."
Three events will go on as planned - the unveiling of a sidewalk star, the
first meeting of the local Don Knotts Fan Club and a display of Knotts
memorabilia.
But spokesman Jack Thompson said the visitors' bureau didn't want to mislead
potential tourists about Knotts' attendance.
"We got hundreds, if not thousands, of inquiries," he said. "But the first
question out of everybody's mouth is, `Is he going to be there?' And that's
from sponsors, as well as people attending."
Thompson said no new date for the festival has been set."
I do hope he gets well soon. We aren't planning to go to the festival now. It
just won't be the same if he can't attend.
Kathy from A Dollar and a Quarter Club, New Phila. Oh.

Since Barney didn't get to go to Thelma Lou's just where would he have
gotten Cashew Fudge in Mayberry? He was carrying it in a small sack like
you get at a candy shop, but I don't remember a candy shop and I never saw
such offerings in the drug store.
A man's got to have a good source of cashew fudge if life is going to be
worth living.
