I remember when I was a kid, Sear's had a popcorn/nut/candy counter. Maybe
Weaver's Dept. Store had one too and Barney got his fudge there.

One of my all-time favorite scenes is from this episode: Gomer and all the
other rookies come running out with their gear. Of course, Gomer is the last
one and he's dropping his gear everywhere. Sgt. Carter yells at him..."Come on
Pyle...My grandma moves faster than that!!!" Gomer gives him such a serious
look and says "Well bless her heart!"
That's one of those priceless moments that makes me laugh out loud no matter
how many times I've seen it before.

Well, once again our finely laid plans to attend Mayberry Days, September 23-25
have run aground on the ship of professional obligations. We'll have to look
forward to 2006. SO, we don't want our Mayberry Days tickets to go unused.
I'll put this on the internet line soon, but I wanted to contact the WBMUTBB
first! Here's what I have, and please note these are REALLY fine seats.
For the Dillards 7:30 evening concert on September 23, we have four seats,
center section, Row B (second row!). For Colonel Tim's on Saturday, we have
four seats, center section, Row D. All seats are 25.00 each--the printed
price we paid. Call or email at your convenience--660-627-8819. We do need to
sell these in pairs or we'll likely be left with single tickets. Disappointed
and forelorn in the Midwest, Mark & Janet from Missouri.
By the way, we'll trade all the tickets for a good drought-busting rain here in
the northern part of the Show Me state.

I must apologize for an error in my Squad Car Nationals report - MASCAR
stands for
Mayberry Authentic Squad Cars and Racing. The judge has issued a 5
second penalty to my time.

On the ever expanding subject of where could have Barney
bought his bag of cashew fudge, has anyone considered
asking Laura Lee Hobbs over at the Dime Store? Seems to me
that girl sells just about everything, when she ain't out
gossipin' or watching out for gold trucks.
Just an idea I got while me and the younguns were spending
time under the thankin' bucket.

Funny how something Mayberry related can pop up when you least expect it,
it happened when I was reading a book by one of my favorite authors, Kathy
Hogan Trocheck ( Aka May Kay Andrews). The book is called Every Crooked
Nanny, it about a woman named Callahan Garrity who aside from her full time
job is also a private investigator. Anyway, the character Callahan was
getting ready to meet someone to discuss a case and she was saying she
didn't feel like changing her clothes to meet this person. She didn't want
to change because she was wearing her favorite t-shirt, her Andy Griffith
Show Rerun Watchers Club t-shirt!!! She told the person she was meeting
he'd know her because she had Barney Fife on her shirt. Oh I was so happy
when I read that! I love this author and the character Callahan but now I
love them that much more!!!
I wonder, could Kathy Hogan Trocheck/ Mary Kay Andrews be one of our own, a
WBMUTBB member too????
Have a Mayberry kind of day and go down downtown and get yourself a bottle
of pop,
Jennifer

Imagine my surprise to be clicking through the channels late at night on
Weds and coming across a great BW special on Public TV on Frank Sinatra.
Old Blue Eyes was singing "Look Down That Lonesome Road" and although
I'm sure he thought he was doing it "Kind of Quaint" but in the last
verse he brought in a few "baby's" and swung it up a bit. Very cool.
I didn't see Rafe in the audience, and nobody wanted to hear any of the
light classics either.

Don't forget about Carl Benson's Wildcats - with or without Carl's mom
or Mrs Hartzell the Librarian (2nd reunion) on Sax. They really tore up
the place for the class of 45 or 48 or whenver it was that they actually
graduated.

Here's sumpthin to think about. How many times in Mayberry did somebody
buy somebody else "A Suit of Clothes"
Rafe Hollister, from Andy - supposedly owed to him from his jail term,
never wore it to the chorale (You look good enough to be buried. I think
I'm fittin to)
Opie - a nice new suit from the Darlings, probably part of the dowry for
Andelina, before the dirt floor cabin and the acreage with sidehill and
good strong boulders.
Ernest T - saw this yesterday, got to keep his Oliver Gossage suit,
thanked Andy for it, last seen leapfrogging into the horizon with
Romee-na
Ernest T - full deputy uniform, genuine whiplash corduroy to go and cour
Hogette.
Jeff Pruit - Andy bought him the largest one they had at the men's
store.
Anybody else ?

Last night I watched the TAGS episode where Otis buys a car. I have a question
about the scene where Barney and Andy chase the pink elephant out of Otis'
cell. Otis saw the elephant, but no one else did. So since I saw the scene
but didn't see the elephant, so did I see an unseen scene or did I see a seen
scene with an unseen thing?
