Why, I get my suits in Mt. Pilot of course! Everyone knows if you want a
good suit, you have to go to Mt. Pilot!.....Now, can we please settle out of
court? My client, Ed, has suffered a very serious injury.

I'm not as good a "trained noticer" as many of you. Who do you

remember that sported some kind of facial hair?

When Goober came back from his time away, he had a beard (also scruffy
at first, then coifed . tell your son to hang in there a while longer!).

Howard had his moustache ... until Millie wanted it removed!

The Darlings all had some sort of facial hair ... from 5 o'clock shadow
to scruffy to beyond (well, not Darlene nor Dud!).

How's that for a start?

Goober went hunting, came back with a beard and decided to keep it b/c
it made him smarter when he was in night school. History, I believe they
were studying. The Monroe Doctrine.

Then didn't Howard Sprague have facial hair on that Caribbean island?

>>>I watched "Barney's Physical" last nite on TV Land. When everyone comes
out
of the back room to surprise Barney with a cake for five years of service,
Floyd says to Barney,"Where were you on Monday?" Barney says "What?" And
Floyd
makes a scissors motion with his hand beside his head. Then they go right
on
with the party. Was something cut out before Floyd makes this reference?
>>>

Yes, there is a scene from earlier in the episode in which Floyd comments
that Barney always gets a haircut every third Monday, but he hadn't come in
that week. Without this remark, the later comment doesn't make much sense.

. did I really say "Darlene" Darling - it's early: you know that I
meant to say "Charlene" Darling!

And, since I'm back in: what about moustaches on Floyd; Col. Harvey
(that elixir of his would put facial hair on anybody!); Neil Bentley;
"Gentleman Dan" Caldwell; his name escapes me (I said it was early!),
but Aunt Bee's globe-trotting cousin (played by Jack Albertson); the
High School principal in the "Senior Play" episode; in her whirlwind
romance, didn't Aunt Bee's beau sport a thin moustache; Charlie Foley;
some of the musicians who traveled with Booby Fleet.

Got to go for real this time . need to trim my beard before heading off
for the day!

most of you, can almost quote the lines in any episode. But I still love

Andy is always putting others first. He is always concerned about the

us. But we had a very nice meal, and enjoyed the setting for sure.
As I am 70 yrs old, it places me in the age with some of the cast.
Perhaps I can relate to much of what we see each time the program is aired.
The kids usually get me the discs of past shows, or a gift cert for
another meal at the Cafe for special occasions.

Thanks for your special interest in the shows, which makes it so nice to
see others are enjoying the same level of intertainment. John

It is indeed absolutely true that the way tea is sweetened makes all the
difference in the world. That's why it's not the same at all to dissolve
any kind of sweetener (sugar or artificial) in tea that's already made.

I love sweet tea, but I've been trying to mostly avoid it lately. All this
talk reminds me of a friend who said there's no such thing as unsweetened
tea. More correctly, it's non-sweetened tea, since it was never sweet in
the first place. So, in Ed's honor, I usually order "non-sweetened tea"
when I eat out.

As I was growing up (in NC), we always had a pitcher of tea in the
refrigerator. It was just "tea." Of course, it was sweet, that's the way
God intended it, and there was no other kind. I remember an episode of
Dobie Gillis when he said something about certain kind of upper crust folks
who drink tea. He said he'd never had tea in his life. Of course, that
struck me as odd, but I knew "he wasn't from around here." He was from
"somewheres else." It was around that time I realized I am a southerner.

Is there a "Trained Noticer" course or test or something? I've been practicing
and with a little more work I might can swing it. Last night I was watching
the episode featuring Blue the dog and I "noticed" some things I hadn't before.
When Blue knocks Barney down for blowing the whistle, and while Barney is
laying there asking Andy to call Blue off, Blue is chewing on Barney's tie.
Also, Barney has Blue sniff Floyd's hankerchief. The hankerchief looks like
the one Barney got hung on a branch when he and Gomer were "pioneering" in the
woods.

Regarding facial hair, I think of Howard immediately. Besides him, there's
Goober who grew a beard and the cool cats in Freddy (Bobby) Fleet's band.

I apologize for such a posting, but I'm not sure who else can help. Here at
Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, NC we interpret the history and
culture of 13 counties of northeastern North Carolina of which Manteo and Dare
County are a part. As Andy Griffith is a resident of our region, I, as
Education Coordinator at the Museum, would like to do a film series in honor of
Andy's 80th birthday next year showing such films as No Time for Sergeants,
Onionhead (we have a huge Coast Guard base here in EC), and Face in the Crowd.
However, the royaltys for showing such films are beyond what little, if any,
funds the state gives us. Any ideas on people or organizations who might want
to help sponsor anything. Thanks
